How Do I Find The Value Of x And y?
Question:
If I have the equations 9x - 4y = 14 and 5y - 2x = 1, how do I find x and y?
Answer:
First, using either one of the two equations you have been given, find the value of either:
1) x in terms of y, or
2) y in terms of x.
For example, if we use the equation 9x – 4y = 14, and decide to find the value of x in terms of y, we need to get x by itself on one side of the equation.
Second, substitute the value you have found for x into your other equation to solve.
Third, now that we know the value of y, we can substitute this value into one of our equations to find the value of x.
We have found that x = 2 and y = 1.

Thank you a lot. your expilination has really helped in finding unknow factor inuch cases. Now, that i have visited your website i am now confident on of how to calculate unknow factors in algebric expressions. I wish you would have given more example, it might have helped me vai a better undertanding in this topic. Thank you.
